Equity is a simple calculation of the value of your home (as determined by the lender’s valuer rather than a real estate agent’s valuer) minus the debt you have in your home loan.
Your ability to leverage that equity will depend on your financial circumstances. However, it’s a great exercise to do and could be a perfect way to start building a property portfolio.
